Report Summary,

This research briefing by Equidem examines the labour and human rights conditions faced by migrant care workers travelling from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda to work in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Based on confidential interviews with 92 migrant workers, including domestic workers, nurses, and in-home caregivers, the briefing documents patterns of exploitation across recruitment, employment, and living conditions.

The briefing provides key considerations for policymakers, researchers, and labour rights actors to ensure migrant care workers are included in discussions on decent work in the care economy and offers recommendations to address the structural vulnerabilities that shape global care migration systems.
